Global Learning Center is now inviting applicants for administrative assistant (AA) and Intercultural Collaborative Learning Supporter positions for FY 2023.

 

 

Administrative Assistant (AA) Intercultural Collaborative Learning Supporter(ICL-S)

Duties

  
  1. (1) Work at the International Student Help Desk
  2. (2) Perform ambassadorial tasks (e.g. assist foreign guests) 
  3. (3) Assist international students (e.g. help incoming international students adjust to daily life)
  4. (4) Help with short-term (e.g. summer) programs
  5. (5) Help with symposiums and events (e.g. assist with international exchange events, data entry etc.)

 

Perform other tasks, as requested by the GLC or Student Exchange Division

(1) Assist with teaching and learning activities in courses incorporating ICL activities
(2) Participation and contribution to regularly held ICL-S meetings.
(3) Submit of articles to the ICL website and other publicity activities
(4) Assist with events such as ICL related training (to be recruited from ICL-Ss for each event)
(5) GLC AA duties (1)-(5) *Only available on request. Relevant applicants only. Your preference will be asked during the screening. For details of activities, please refer to the concurrently recruited GLC AA Application Guidelines.
(6) Perform other tasks, as requested by the GLC
      
Compensation JPY 920-1080/hour, depending on enrollment classification (Rate of pay as of AY 2022)
Qualifications

Students who are enrolled, or are scheduled to be enrolled by April 1, 2022, as degree students at this university and meet the following requirements are eligible:

  1. (1) have some kind of overseas experience, or experience with international exchange
  2. (2) have Japanese and English language skills sufficient for everyday conversation
  1. (3) feel responsible for their work while employed
  2. (4) able to work at least until March 2024

(5) able to take charge of International Student Help Desk at least once a month

Students who are enrolled by April 2022 as degree students at Tohoku University and meet the following requirements are eligible:
(1) have Japanese and English language skills sufficient for everyday conversation. (Non-native English speakers should have a TOEFL® iBT score of 70 or higher, ITP score of 520 or higher, or TOEIC® score of 700 or higher. Non-native Japanese speakers should have completed the Institute for Excellence in Higher Education's Japanese Language Education Program Level 4 (N3) or higher.)
(2) have gained an understanding of the significance of ICL, e.g. such as by taking an ICL seminar, and have experience of making active use of the learning environment L, e.g. by taking ICL seminars and making active use of the learning environment
(3) be able to work smoothly with the course teacher in planning and managing the course
(4) be able to carry out collaborative work between ICL-S members
(5) be able to work until March 2024 (Semi-annual appointments available on consultation)
