The Tohoku University Global Learning Center (GLC) conducted the 3rd phase of its Tohoku University Japanese Program (TUJP) Online from June 21st to July 16th.

It was joined by 11 students with beginner level Japanese ability from partner institutions in the U.S.A., China, Singapore, Netherlands, and Germany. The participants studied Japanese language and culture, and took International Project Based Learning classes with Tohoku University students.

On the last day, the students gave speeches in Japanese at the final presentation and closing ceremony. “I could make many friends in this four-week program. I want to walk around Sendai city and Tohoku University campus with them in the near future,” one student commented. Another said, “The time difference was quite hard to overcome, but it was an irreplaceable experience to study with many students.”

TUJP has finished for the first half of the 2021 academic year, but in the second half the GLC plans to have more two-week programs in November 2021 and February 2022.
