The final workshop of the basic seminar on entrepreneurship and VR/AR was held in Kawauchi on August 13th. Students experienced every step in starting a business while learning about VR/AR with a local IT company. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was the only basic seminar offered in English in the spring semester, and almost all 22 first-year students in the Future Global Leadership (hereafter FGL) courses took the seminar. Two of them participated online from their home countries.

In the first half of the seminar, they worked on entrepreneurship seminars, online tutorials, and challenges provided by Unity, which boasts a large global market share among game development engines. Students were divided into 6 teams and worked on the tasks using the GitHub platform. During the seminar, they showed off their Unity programs. In the second half, each team planned and produced their own VR/AR game building on the basics they had learned. At the final presentation, they gave demonstrations of their games for a mock business contest. Some students visited the company which had provided the instructors, while others consulted with the instructors about their own entrepreneurial ideas.

Next year, a wide range of students will be able to participate, regardless of whether they are majoring in liberal arts or sciences, and open it to both Japanese and international students.
