We regret to inform you that the Japanese government has announced that entry into Japan by newly arriving foreign nationals, including international students, is suspended until December 31. Consequently, MEXT is suspending acceptance of screening applications and issuance of screening clearance certificates.
To ensure screening procedures can be performed quickly once MEXT resumes them, we will continue to accept your online applications for permission to travel to Japan.
We know that you were all looking forward to coming to Japan, and these new border control measures are a disappointment, but ask for your continued patience.
We hope that we will be able to meet you all in Sendai in the near future.

渡日予定の留学生のみなさんへ
日本政府は、留学生を含む外国人の新規入国を2021年12月31日まで停止すると発表しました。これに伴い、文部科学省の審査申請の受付や審査済証の交付も一時的に停止されます。
東北大学では、文部科学省の審査申請の手続きが再開されたとき、速やかに対応できるよう引き続きみなさんからのオンライン渡日申請を受け付けます。
渡日への期待を膨らませていたみなさんは、この新しい水際措置を知りとても残念に感じていると思いますが、もう少しお待ちください。
一日も早くみなさんを仙台にお迎えできることを楽しみにしています。
