
FGL : Leaving Procedures
Congratulations on your graduation! However, before leaving Japan, you still have things to do. We suggest you start preparation at least one month before leaving.

Information for FGL Undergraduate Students Website
Aoba Ward Office two weeks prior to leaving Japan
Make sure to take the following with you.
1. Residence Card
2. National Health Insurance Card
3. Social Security and Tax Number Notification Card ("My Number")
4. Passport
5. Cash (approx. JPY 6,000) for the National Health Insurance final premium
6. Pension Book
STEP 1: Submit a moving-out notification at the "Koseki Juminka (Family Register & Resident Section)", 1st floor
STEP 2: Cancel National Health Insurance and National Pension Plan at the "Hoken Nenkinka (National Health Insurance & Pension Section)", Counter #2, 5th floor
STEP 3: Cancel Social Security & Tax Number ("My Number") at the "Koseki Juminka (Family Register & Resident Section)", 1st floor
Office Hours: 8:30-17:00 on weekdays
On Campus
Each department may require specific procedures for your departure. Please perform the necessary procedures at your department's office.
Admin Office of Your Faculty
1. Return your TU Student ID Card to the Academic Affairs Section of your department.
2. Return any books and items (card keys to the buildings, etc.) you borrowed from your department.
FGL Office
Return any textbooks you borrowed from the FGL Office.
* Don't pass the books on to other students. Return them to the FGL Office.
Library
Return all the books you borrowed from the TU Libraries.
Coop
Cancel University Coop membership and insurance.
* Go to the Univ. Coop Bookstore on any campus bringing your Coop membership card. The membership fee will be refunded.
TU Mail News
TU issues Mail News quarterly. Don't forget to subscribe to it before you leave. Stay connected with us!
Additional Procedures for MEXT Scholarship Recipient
Perform necessary procedures at the academic affairs section of your course.
Off Campus
77 Bank & JP Bank
Go to the nearest branch with the following items. Your account will be closed right after the procedure. If you have registered for automatic public utility debits from your account, you must ensure that all debts are paid before closing.
- Bank book
- Bank card
- Passport
- Personal seal (if you registered at the bank when opening your bank account, take the same seal with you)
Apartment
1. Inform your real estate company of your desired termination date at least one month before you leave or by the date mentioned in the contract.
2. Remove all your belongings by the moving-out date.
3. Clean up your room.
* The real estate company will visit your room and check its condition. You may have to pay additional fees for damage or if your cleaning is not sufficient.
4. Make sure nothing is left in the room. Large trash such as home appliances, PC, furniture, mattress etc. must be disposed of according to the city regulations.
Water, Gas & Electricity
Call the Sendai City Water and Gas Bureaus, and Tohoku Electric Power Co. to notify them of your moving-out date at least 7 days prior to your move.

Mobile Phone
Contact your mobile phone company to terminate your contract and settle your bills.
At the Airport Upon leaving
Return your Residence Card to an immigration officer at the airport.
* Keep your Residence Card until you leave Japan. Please return the card at the departure counter of the airport when you leave Japan.
