Course Registration
How to register courses
[1] Visit (the website of) or contact the Academic Affairs Section (教務係/kyomu kakari) of your assigned Faculty/School for the information of the course registration
[2] Obtain registration forms* relevant to your courses (*provided by the Academic Affairs Section of your Faculty/School)
[3] Confirm the registration deadline (depending on Faculty/School)
[4] Fill out the registration form(s)
[5] Obtain approval from your academic advisor and each instructor prior to course registration
[6] Submit the forms to the Academic Affairs Section of your Faculty/School by the deadline
Requirement for DEEP
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to those who fulfill the following requirement.
- Earn 13 credits or more* per semester (26 credits in a year) (Requirement for the Special Auditing Student (特別聴講学生))
*5 credits or more for those who participate remotely from their home countries
Important Note
Under the “Immigration Control and Refugee-Recognition Act”, Special Auditing Students are required to take classes for more than 10 hours (600 minutes) per week during your registered period in Japan.
*Not applicable to those who participate remotely from their home countries
General Education/Specialized Courses
General Education courses (全学教育科目/Zengaku Kyouiku Kamoku)
Registration forms (履修届/Rishu Todoke) (*provided by the Academic Affairs Section of your Faculty/School)
- (A) Course Registration Form for General Education Courses (全学教育科目等履修願) - Ask instructors for their signature on (A) at each class.
- (B) Class Registration Card (履修カード(教員用)) - Only if required, fill in and submit (B) to each class instructor.

Specialized courses (専門科目/Senmon Kamoku)
Registration forms (履修届/Rishu Todoke) (*provided by the Academic Affairs Section of your Faculty/School)
- Contact the Academic Affairs Section of your Faculty/School and ask for the registration forms relevant to the courses you are willing to register for.

JYPE Courses (Optional)
The DEEP students may audit courses in the Junior Year Program in English (JYPE), by permission of the instructor.
However, students should not expect any special treatment in such courses.

JLPK* Courses (Optional)
JLPK = Japanese Language Program at Kawauchi (東北大学日本語教育プログラム)
(The courses from JLPK are non-credit courses)
