The Tohoku University Global Learning Center conducted a four-week student exchange program as part of the Tohoku University Japanese Program (TUJP) from July 12 to August 8, 2023.
TUJP programs are designed for students want to study basic level Japanese, learn about Japanese language and culture, and engage in exchange and co-curricular activities with Tohoku University students. Fifty students from partner universities in Singapore, US, China, UK, HK, Taiwan, Canada, France, Spain, and Indonesia came to Tohoku University to participate in the program.
A final presentation and completion ceremony were held on the last day of the program. Participants gave presentations in Japanese on their experiences in the program, including what they learned in Japanese language classes and cultural workshops, and their interactions with Tohoku University students. In a questionnaire for participants after the program, they commented that they learned a lot about Japan, Sendai and Tohoku University as well as the Japanese language.
TUJP Winter and Spring are now open for applications.
