The Tohoku University Global Learning Center conducted two two-week online student exchange programs as part of the Tohoku University Japanese Program (TUJP).
TUJP programs are designed for students studying basic level Japanese, learning about Japanese language and culture, and engaging in exchange and co-curricular activities with Tohoku University students. Four students from partner universities in China, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States, participated in TUJP Online-Beginner (May 15-26), and seven students from partner universities in UK, China, Australia and Singapore participated in TUJP Online-Basic (June 5-16).
A final presentation and completion ceremony were held on the last day of the program. Participants gave presentations in Japanese on their experiences in the program, including what they learned in Japanese language classes and Japanese cultural workshops, and their interactions with Tohoku University students. In a questionnaire for participants after the program, they commented that they learned a lot about Japan, Sendai and Tohoku University as well as Japanese language. Some participants will be joining the following TUJP In-Person program.
TUJP In-Person will be held in July and August, 2023. In addition, one online and two face-to-face programs are scheduled for the second semester in November, December and March in AY 2023.
