The Tohoku University Global Learning Center conducts online classes using Jamboard, Google's digital whiteboard (55-inch touch panel).

During lectures instructors can write on Jamboard or PowerPoint slides with a digital pen, import images and materials in real time while searching on the Internet, and share images in Google Drive, etc. The screen is shared in real time through Google Meet or the Jamboard app and can be co-edited by students freely which enables a combination of analog and digital interaction. Since the Jamboard app can be used for free from any device, it is possible to participate from a computer or tablet regardless of location, and interactive lessons can be held with students taking lessons in remote locations. Thanks to Jamboard, there is no need for teachers to distribute printouts or students to copy board notes to notebooks as in the past.

Tohoku University introduced Jamboard in September and currently uses it effectively in 9 different classes. By actively introducing such digital technology, we are developing teaching methods suitable for digital globalization.
