On June 20 (Thu.)2019, a seminar titled "Renting Apartments for Beginners," was held at the International Exchange Building on Kawauchi Kita Campus.
The seminar was aimed at international students who will be leaving their dormitories and renting apartments in Sendai for the first time. It was conducted in English and covered methods for looking for apartments and things to be careful of when signing the rental contract.
The seminar was held with cooperation from the Tohoku University Co-op housing staff. About 29 international students participated in the seminar and Q&A session.
The international students actively asked questions about rent prices, the process for requesting a joint guarantor, and other housing-related matters. They seemed happy to have their concerns regarding renting for the first time in Japan addressed.
The International Support Office holds these seminars twice each year.
