On January 21st, 2025, 17 high school students and 3 teachers from the National Chiayi Senior High School in Taiwan visited Tohoku University to learn about the Future Global Leadership (FGL) program, tour Kawauchi campus, meet current FGL students, and have lunch together in the university cafeteria. The students spent the morning listening to a presentation about the unique aspects of Tohoku University as well as the FGL program, had a Q&A session with a panel of current FGL Students, and even took part in an introductory chemistry lecture to gauge the style of education. After the lectures were given and the students had asked all of their questions, the 4 current FGL students in attendance took them on a tour of Kawauchi campus, including the lecture halls, administrative buildings, Kawauchi Library, student club rooms, and finally the cafeteria, where everyone grabbed a bite to eat for lunch and chat about their impressions of the university. Finally, with time running short, the Taiwanese students bid farewell and continued on their way to explore other universities in Japan. While they may have left the university grounds, the students took with them the knowledge and experience they gained during their visit, including promotional pamphlets as well as a sense of confidence in choosing Tohoku University as their higher learning destination.
