Tohoku University started a Chatbot service in spring 2021. The Chatbot provides smooth and smart communication between the administration and students. We are now accepting mascot character designs for the Chatbot from students and staff. If you are interested, please read the following and enter your submission by June 25, 2021.

  • Chatbot mascot, who will respond to inquiries, and name.  
ThemeOriginal cute mascot character representing both AI and hospitality. 
Requirements
- The aspect ratio must be 1:1
- It can be either color or monochrome.
- It can be either hand drawn or CG, but it must be submitted online.
- Avoid complicated designs as they tend to be less visible. 
- Avoid specifying a gender, race, or ethnicity. Follow Tohoku University's principle of respecting diversity.

  • Winners will be announced on the Tohoku University website around August 2021.

  • 1st Prize: Character becomes Chatbot’s mascot & 30,000 yen Amazon Gift Card
    2nd Prize: 10,000 yen Amazon Gift Card
    3rd Prize: 5,000 yen Amazon Gift Card 
How to apply
Copyright etc.
  • - The design must be completely original and unpublished. 
  • - The design will be disqualified if it is contrary to public order and morals, contains slander, or infringes on copyright or any third party’s rights.
  • - The design will be retroactively disqualified if it is found to violate any of the above, even if it has been selected as a winner. 
  • - In the event that Tohoku University becomes liable for damages due to the character design, Tohoku University reserves the right to claim compensation from the designer.
  • - All copyrights associated with the selected design will become property of Tohoku University, as per articles 27 and 28 of the Copy right Law of Japan.

  • - Tohoku University takes no responsibility for non-delivery of the design, damages due to submission, or loss of data.

  • - The winning design may be, in consultation with the designer, partially altered, recolored, or resized in order to improve visibility on the Chatbot screen.

  • - The applicants’ personal information will be used solely for submission screenings, announcements, and awards.
