Dear International Students,

First of all, we would like to welcome you to Tohoku University. We are the Tohoku University Foreign Students Association (TUFSA), a student-run organization that aims to support international students during their stay in Sendai and enhance intercultural exchange between international and local students. We have been organizing cultural and social projects for 50 years and we are looking forward to becoming a part of your study time in Sendai. We have several programs through which hopefully your new life in Japan will be more enjoyable and we’d like to invite you to get the most out of them:


1. Date Masamune

Before you even come to Japan we’ll be opening up online orientation sessions using Google Hangouts. So whether you have last minute questions on what to pack or if you’re nearly breaking down of excitement, horror, happiness we’re there to listen! Fill in the application form here as soon as possible and secure your date with Masamune! We called this online support program as Date Masamune in honor of Date Masamune, the Lord-founder of Sendai. You are invited to have a group call with other prospective students from all around the globe leading by one of our “Masamune”. The Masamune will answer your questions and clear your doubts about Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan. You are free to choose an appropriate time slots within 4 days: September 16 (Sat), 17 (Sun), 18 (Mon), and 20 (Tue) according to Japanese Standard Time. A group session will be performed by hangout and limited to 10 people (first come first served).


2. Buddy Program

Life is better with friends, and that’s exactly what the Buddy Program is all about! International students who are interested in joining this program will be matched with local students according to their applications. The Buddy program will not only support you during the arrival period, but will also give you the chance to meet people, improve your language skills and spend a great time at Tohoku University. 3. Newsletter

We run a monthly Newsletter that will keep you updated on what’s going on in Sendai. Sign up here. We also organize other cultural activities, such as movie nights, cultural evenings and study trips, enough to keep you entertained all year!
