Tohoku University has a lot of excellent STEM students, such as winners
of the Science Olympics, from across the globe! However, interactions
among the STEM students are unfortunately not active due to a heavy load
of classes and laboratory works. In order to enhance interactions in the
STEM student community, we have established an international exchange
organization, TUSTEM (Tohoku University STEM Student Network).

Organizing and facilitating activities/events, such as
-TUSTEM Lounge [Every Tuesday 17:30-19:30 in Aobayama Commons (New
Aobayama Campus)] with monthly alternating activities!
-Academic Dinner / Journal Club [held irregularly in place of TUSTEM
Lounge - same place & time] Present your research in English under
casual atmosphere, in very easy terms
-Weekend Activity [Make friends in a more casual & fun social
setting] Past events: Imoni, Day trips, BBQ & Fireworks, En-nichi
(stamp rallies) etc.
-STEM Events [Held irregularly on weekend / weekday evenings] Coffee
events with professional guests, STEM themed games, Integration bees
etc.

[Job Description of TUSTEM Leader] (AA position*)
-Assisting STEM exchange programs of the university, such as
Supporting the summer STEM exchange programs (TSSP, T-SRIP),
assisting final presentation sessions of long term exchange programs
(COLABS, JYPE), etc..
- Organizing and participating TUSTEM activities/events
The activities/events aim to promote interactions among the STEM
undergraduate,graduate students of the university.

No specific skill is required to become a TUSTEM leader. However, you
must have a motivation to the job. For example, attending meetings and
events and promptly responding to any messages request your response.

*AA position: A TUSTEM leader will be employed as an Administrative Assistant (AA) of Tohoku University, which is an official hiring position at the university like TA or RA. In general, when you help with any activities/events organized by the university or GLC, you will be paid for the time you spend helping out at an hourly rate. For other activities/ events above, you may also be paid if they are approved as paid jobs. |
