ContentsOni, also known as Japanese demons, are one of the most well-known icons of Japanese folklore. In proverbs, folk tales, anime, traditional events, and many other settings, oni are often portrayed as terrifying beings. However, in legends passed down throughout the Tamura region of Fukushima Prefecture, oni are portrayed as protectors of the land, who fought against oppression from the central government. In this event, we will deepen our understanding of Tamura's history and culture through a picture-story show and special taiko performance related to its oni legends, and together learn about onis from the context of Fukushima's history and culture. Part 1: Picture-story of the legend of Oni Part 2: Performance of Oni Drum Part 3: Group discussion on the legend of Oni
