On 10 November 2016, a workshop on “LinkedIn”, which is one of the largest business-oriented SNSs, was organized by the Global Learning Center of Tohoku University. The workshop started at 18:00 in the Flexible Area of the Main Library and attracted more than 65 attendees including not only students but also administrative and academic staff members. Mr. Garrell Malacad from LinkedIn gave an insightful talk about how to optimize the usage of “LinkedIn” for building professional networks and for finding internships as well as job opportunities without geographical limitations. According to him, although the centralized recruitment method is still the most popular in Japan, the on-line platform method is getting popular particularly among global companies.
