Five TUJP programs were conducted in Summer 2026

The Global Learning Center (GLC) hosted five in-person Tohoku University Japanese Programs (TUJPs)—short-term student exchange programs—between May and July 2026.

● TUJP Baylor (May 21 – May 31, 2026): Welcomed 7 participants from Baylor University, our partner institution in the United States.

● TUJP Summer 1 (June 10 – June 25, 2026): Welcomed 34 participants from partner universities located in Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany, the United States, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Russia.

● TUJP UNCC (June 10 – June 25, 2026): Welcomed 10 participants from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, our partner institution in the United States.

● TUJP Sydney (June 22 – July 9, 2026): Welcomed 59 participants from the University of Sydney, our partner institution in Australia.

● TUJP Summer 2 (July 1 – July 28, 2026): Welcomed 73 participants from partner institutions and other organizations located in Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the United States, Indonesia, Germany, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Australia, Thailand, Finland, Sweden, and Russia.

Through participating in diverse programs such as Japanese language classes, Japanese culture workshops, and field trips, as well as interacting with both domestic and international students at Tohoku University, the participants expanded their opportunities to use practical Japanese and deepened their understanding of Japanese culture.

Preparations are currently underway to hold three TUJP programs from December 2026 to January 2027.
