Executive Vice President for Education and Student Support Hirotsugu Takizawa, in his welcome speech,  urged the students to be active in a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities. " In addition to mastering your main field of study, please challenge yourself socially in various ways, for example, by planning events with your friends or creating a startup. We hope you will use Tohoku University as A launchpad that enables you to make a great leap forward in your personal growth."

Three students gave speeches on behalf of the new students. The representative from the AMC course, Faculty of Science, said: “With my love of chemistry, especially in the field of pharmaceuticals, AMC is the most suitable course for me.”

A representative of the IMAC-U course, School of Engineering, in a speech for his future student life, said: “As the clock ticked closer to my departure, I realized that Tohoku University wasn’t just an institution, but a community. Every question was answered, every concern addressed, ensuring that international students like myself felt welcomed and included.”

The representative from the AMB course, Faculty of Agriculture, said: “I hope that I will be able to learn more interesting and useful things in the Marine Biology program offered at Tohoku University, an area of study that I have had just a little exposure to before.”

After the ceremony, a group photo was taken, and the new students looked forward to their university life in the refreshing autumn weather.
