As part of an International Co-learning Class, titled "Understanding Japan through Miyagi's Traditional Culture," 55 international and Japanese students designed and constructed Tanabata decorations. The decorations incorporate various colors based on Tohoku University's school colors, and spell out the phrase "東北大学生" (Tohoku University Students), with one of the characters composed of national flags.
The decorations were displayed in front of Fujisaki Department Store on the Ichibancho shopping arcade, to the delight of the tourists who attended the Tanabata festival. The decorations will be on display at the Tohoku University Library until the end of August.
