International Exchange Support Office on Campus

Each undergraduate/graduate school has an international exchange office that plans exchange events with international students.

Graduate School of Arts and Letters

The International Exchange Division in the Graduate School of Arts and Letters provides support for international students from abroad and Tohoku University students who wish to study abroad.
Faculty members with extensive knowledge of various procedures and study methods in Japan and conditions at universities abroad are available for consultation, so please feel free to contact us.

Graduate School of Education

The International Research and Exchange Office of the Graduate School of Education conducts the following activities to promote and support international exchange and international academic research among students and faculty members.

1. Maintenance and management of inter-departmental academic exchange agreements and inter-university academic exchange agreements
2. Acceptance and post-enrollment support for international students
3. Organizing international symposiums and lectures
4. Management of the AEL (Asia Education Leader) course

Graduate School of Law

The International Exchange Support Office, in close collaboration with the Global Learning Center, enables Faculty/Graduate School of Law students to have international experiences. In particular, it can utilize its network of law schools at overseas universities and research institutes for students who wish to study abroad to enable an optimal experience and provide support through advising and student exchange events.
Moreover, the office's participation in joint international doctoral courses enables it to assist the learning and daily lives of international students in Japan who have come from overseas universities to study/research at the Tohoku University Faculty/Graduate School of Law.
It also strengthens international exchange at the Faculty/Graduate School of Law by assisting with activities for international students, such as courtroom observation, panel discussions with lawyers, and lectures/seminars conducted in English.

Graduate School of Economics and Management

The instruction section of Graduate School of Economics and Management provides support for international students as well as students who are planning to study abroad. Our support includes academic guidance focused on language instructions, assistance with student’s adjustment to campus life, and coordination of various intercultural exchange.

Student Communication Center OASIS

Student Communication Center OASIS is a venue for cross-cultural exchange created and nurtured by students. Throughout the year, OASIS provides support for international exchange for students, including foreign language study, international exchange events, and information on studying abroad.

Graduate School of Science

Division for International Research and Educational Cooperation, “DiRECT” provides assistance to international students, and Japanese students who seek academic opportunities abroad. It also functions as the support Office for IGPAS (International Graduate Program for Advanced Science) and AMC (Advanced Molecular Chemistry Course for undergraduate students).

School/Graduate School of Dentistry: Liaison Center for Innovative Dentistry Division for Globalization Initiative

Liaison Center for Innovative Dentistry Division for Globalization Initiative focuses on the international development of education and research based on “Interface Oral Health Science,” the next-generation concept of dentistry proposed by the Graduate School of Dentistry. It is in charge of projects related to deepening international networks in the School/Graduate School of Dentistry, implementing international joint education and research, and establishing international centers of dental education and research.

The International Office at the Graduate School of Engineering (EngIO) promotes international research and educational exchange at the School of Engineering. The Office plans and implements language education and overseas training programs, including support for international students living in Japan, so that students can grow through overseas experiences in a safe and secure environment.

Graduate School of Agricultural Science

The International Exchange Support Room is not only a place where international students can visit for consultation or seek information on various matters, but also a place to socialize with friends while having lunch, or simply to relax and take a break in between lectures.
