9. Class Outline, Objectives
This course is an "international collaborative learning class" where domestic and international students learn together through cooperation, with Japanese as the primary language of instruction. The instructor's role is limited to providing foundational knowledge and reference materials, with an emphasis on active learning by offering ample opportunities for group work and discussions among students. The first half of the course focuses on the Malay Peninsula, while the second half covers the Middle East (including parts of Europe). Additionally, guest lectures are planned featuring external speakers with practical experience in the field, who will provide valuable insights for the final assignments of the course modules.

Each student (or group) will research the assigned theme using literature and websites on the internet to prepare for group work. After the group work session, each student will be required to write a mini-essay during class.
