2021年度第2回 グローバルリーダー認定証授与式

2022年3月24日(木)、東北大学片平北門会館にて、2021年度第2回「東北大学グローバルリーダー育成プログラム（TGLプログラム）グローバルリーダー認定証授与式」を開催しました。

グローバルリーダー認定証はTGLプログラムに参加し、所定の条件を満たしてグローバルリーダーに認定された学生に授与されるものです。 今年度後期及び卒業前認定では16名が新たにグローバルリーダーに認定されました。

オミクロン株による新型コロナウイルスの急激な感染拡大により、当初の予定より約２か月延期して開催された今回の授与式には、今年度後期認定者および卒業前認者から参加可能な15名の学生が認定証を授与されました。

式典では、まず初めに大野総長より認定者に対しお祝いと激励の言葉が贈られ、受賞者１人１人に対して認定証が授与されました。 そのあと、認定者を代表して法学部4年の北平将さん、医学部5年の河野ちひろさんの2名がスピーチをし、TGLプログラムを通して学んだことや今後の目標などについて語りました。 また、式典には、コロナ禍のためオンラインで授与式を開催した2020年度前期の認定者も招待されており、3名の学生が出席しました。2年前の授与式ではかなわなかった総長との対面を果たして、記念撮影を行いました。

認定者の皆さんの今後のますますの活躍を期待しています。

2013年度にスタートしたTGLプログラムで、これまでに認定されたグローバルリーダーは、今回の認定者16名を含めて170名となりました。2022年度の認定者は合計37名で、1年間の認定者数としては過去最高となりました。TGLプログラムは来年度10年目の節目の年を迎えます。

法学部4年　北平　将さん

この度、グローバルリーダーに認定していただいたこと、大変光栄に思います。認定者を代表し、御礼申し上げます。

ローカルからグローカルへ。TGLプログラムの4年間、これが私にとって最大の変化であり、最大の成長でありました。
私は、ここ仙台に来るまで、北海道の田舎で育ちました。豊かな自然と薫り高い文化が自慢のまちである一方、産業が廃れ、人口が減り、財政難にあえぐ、いわゆる過疎の町でもありました。地方消滅の危機が叫ばれる中、どうしたら地元を存続させられるのかということばかりが私の関心事でした。当時の私は、世界に対し、まさに内向きの人でした。
TGLプログラムは、そんな私の目を開き、地域を見つめる新たな視点と、世界につながる可能性を与えてくれたと実感しています。

ＴＧＬプログラムの学びは、グローバルゼミから始まりました。グローバル社会について自分の頭で考え、仲間たちと議論し、また考える。すべてに始まる思考のプロセスは、ここで養いました。ＴＧＬプログラムの学びは、海外で暮らし、広がりました。ＳＡＰで初めて海外の地を踏み、外国人のコミュニティの中で暮らす経験が、学びのフィールドを広げてくれました。そして、ＴＧＬプログラムの学びは、実践により深まりました。ＴＧＬプログラムの科目にあったローカルジャーナリズムの講義を活かし、地元において地域振興を主題とするメディアを立ち上げました。講義で学んだ、物事の本質を見極める思考力、分野横断的な行動力、コミュニケーション力、発信力を総合的に向上させ、自分のものとしていきました。
グローバル社会に向き合う思考、海外での経験、地元での実践という、教室・海外・地元の３つのフィールドを行き来するプログラムでの学びから、私は大きな成長を実感しました。それが、ローカルからグローカルへの脱却でした。世界に目を向けるからこそ、見える地域の姿があり、地域に目を向けるからこそ、見える世界の姿がある。それまでは自分の中ではっきりと区分されていたローカルとグローバルの領域が、連続的にまた重層的に見えるようになりました。 地域と世界はつながっています。ローカルとグローバルの２つの視点をバランスよく持ち、ローカルとグローバルの2つの領域を自由に行き来し行動できる人材こそ、グローバルリーダーだと思います。私は、かかる複眼的思考と横断的行動の大切さに気が付きました。これこそが、TGLプログラムにおける最大の学びであり、成長でありました。

貧困、格差、温暖化、戦争、テロ。今、私たちは、多くのグローバルな課題に直面しています。これらの解決にはローカル社会の同意と協力が必要です。どんなに大きな理想も、身近な生活空間の改善という小さな一歩から動き出します。グローカルの視点を持ち、グローバルとローカルを自由に行き来し、行動できるグローバルリーダーを求める声は、ますます高まっていくものと思います。
私は、大学において、法律学を専攻しました。TGLプログラムで培ったグローカルという視点と、自らの専門性を活かし、いかにグローバル社会の健全な発展に貢献できるか。TGLプログラムの4年間、自らに問い続けてきました。その答えが最後に述べる「ひと・家庭・地域をつなぐソーシャルローヤー」という法律家像です。
TGLプログラムは、私に地域を見つめる新たな視点と、世界につながる可能性を与えてくれました。こうした学びは、大野総長はじめとした関係者の皆様のご指導・ご支援があって初めて成り立つものです。この場をお借りして、深く感謝申し上げます。最後にＴＧＬプログラムでの学びの成果を社会に還元していく決意を英語で述べさせていただき、挨拶とさせていただきます。

Stability in local communities is essential for sustainable development in global society. Therefore, I want to face the challenges of each person, each family, and each community, to solve global issues.
Social-Lawyers are lawyers with a perspective on welfare and “glocal” conditions. They connect people asking for help to society. They connect the voices in the field to the policy makers. They connect solutions to local problems with solutions to global problems. Social lawyers are key people in the local safety net and global development.
As a social lawyer, I aim to be a global leader, and I will contribute to sustainable development that leaves nobody behind.

医学部5年　河野　ちひろさん

I am grateful to be here and to be given this opportunity to speak today. I hope that by sharing my story I can encourage everyone who will join the Tohoku University Global Leader Program in the future.

Let me start from my high school days. When I was a third grade high school student, I only had one hope for my future. I wanted to work in an English speaking country. I talked with my homeroom teacher about my career and future, and she asked me, "What are your future goals?" And I answered, "I like English, so I want to work in a foreign country." Then she asked, "What do you want to do there?" I told her that I didn't know. Other than working abroad, I had no idea what I wanted to do in the future. I started to think about my future more seriously. I realized that if I went abroad without any skills other than speaking English, I wouldn't have anything that I could do there for a living. I thought I should get some skills so that I could work anywhere in the world. I was a liberal arts student at that time, so I decided to study another year in cram school to change my major to science on that exact day.

I was finally able to pass the entrance examination and began to study at Tohoku University as a medical student. Soon I began to explore opportunities to expose myself to more English. I found the TGL Program there. I took as many English related courses as possible to improve my skills. Through various experiences such as going abroad and communicating with international students on a daily basis, I can say with confidence that my English is at least better than it was in high school.

Aside from that, I actually learned a lot more from the TGL Program than I expected. I have ADHD, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and I had a hard time managing my schedule. Also, I often left out things that were necessary, and lost control of my emotions. I wanted to make my life easier somehow. I found a few interesting courses in the TGL Program that I thought could help. I could learn how to control my emotions when someone said something negative about me in one course. While we studied a bit through lectures, we learned a lot more from group discussions with other participants. In another course, we had some sort of mission every week. We had to solve problems and give presentations on the same day we got our task. Those are just a couple of examples of courses that helped me. They gave me opportunities to face my negative aspects and to think practically about what I could do when I hit a wall of difficulties. Without the TGL Program, I am sure that I wouldn't have had such a great experience.

One of my future goals now is to work in the US as a resident in family medicine or pediatrics. It took me a lot of time to finally find what I really want to achieve. I think I could get there thanks to all the experiences I had throughout my life as a Tohoku University student. There is no doubt that the TGL program is a major part of that. To be honest, there are still many things I am worried about in my future. But I know for sure that I never want to give up without trying. My time in the TGL Program proved that there is always something you can learn when you try.

I'll be entering my senior year this April. My next challenge has just begun. I want to try and see how far I'll go. Last but not least, I would like to show my gratitude to Tohoku University for giving me the opportunity to work on the TGL program.
