{"id":71720,"date":"2025-03-25T13:49:39","date_gmt":"2025-03-25T04:49:39","guid":{"rendered":"\/english\/?p=71720"},"modified":"2025-03-25T15:29:32","modified_gmt":"2025-03-25T06:29:32","slug":"%e3%80%90report%e3%80%91vice-president-takizawa-visited-los-angeles-california","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"\/english\/activity\/71720\/","title":{"rendered":"\u3010Report\u3011Vice President Takizawa Visited Los Angeles, California"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From February 28th to March 3rd, the Executive Vice President (Education and Student Support) Hirotsugu Takizawa, Specially Appointed Professor and FGL Coordinator Yumiko Watanabe, and other faculty members visited\u00a0 Torrance near Los Angeles, California, and Riverside, a sister city of Sendai.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main purpose of the visit was to engage public relations and exchange opinions toward <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">establishing a new admissions organization and Gateway College<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is planned for fiscal year 2025 and beyond. This plan is being promoted by Tohoku University, which was certified as an International Research Excellence University in 2024, to further produce diverse talent who will be active globally in the future.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The delegation visited two local high schools in Torrance and Riverside, as well as the Asahi Gakuen, the Consulate-General of Japan in Los Angeles, and the Japan Foundation in Los Angeles. They also visited the University of California, Riverside, a partner university, and the Riverside City Hall to exchange opinions and enhance relationships.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During this visit, they introduced the plan for the Admission Organization and the Gateway College in various locations and information gathering on the American university admission system was also an important objective. They had the opportunity to directly learn about the American admission system by visiting local educational institutions and related organizations.
