{"id":55896,"date":"2022-03-15T16:08:21","date_gmt":"2022-03-15T07:08:21","guid":{"rendered":"\/english\/?p=55896"},"modified":"2023-02-17T17:55:46","modified_gmt":"2023-02-17T08:55:46","slug":"spring-2022-fgl-course-online-seminar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"\/english\/activity\/55896\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring 2022 FGL Course Online Seminar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of Tohoku University's Be Global project, the Global Learning Center (GLC) conducts the FGL* Course Online Seminar. FGL Student Ambassadors (current FGL students) organize and participate in seminars for the high schools they previously attended. From January to March in 2022, four seminars were held at top high schools\/institutions in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. They were attended by a total of 178 students, instructors, and parents.<br \/><br \/>\r\nIn all the seminars Student Ambassadors assisted with course explanations and talked about their own experiences in the program in their local languages. They also answered inquiries in local languages during the Q&A.<br \/><br \/>\r\nOn January 8th and 22nd, the JST** Sakura Science Plan: Online Exchange in Vietnam was held. It was attended by 22 first and second year students (who are unable to visit Japan due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and instructors from 2 high schools in Hanoi, Vietnam. During the event, FGL instructors explained the courses' educational\/research curricula, while current students talked about the university, campus, and their experiences. Current FGL students from Vietnam translated, enabling a more active dialog.<br \/><br \/>\r\n*FGL: Refers to Tohoku University's Future Global Leadership undergraduate degree courses.<br \/>\r\n**JST: Refers to Japan Science and Technology Agency<br \/><br \/>\r\n \r\nParticipating high schools\/institutions in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam:<br \/>\r\nHigh School for Gifted Students, Hanoi National University of Education: Vietnam Sakura Science, held January 8 (Fri.), 2022<br \/>\r\nHigh School for Gifted Students, Hanoi University of Science: Vietnam Sakura Science, held January 22(Sun.Sun.), 2022 <br \/>\r\nWardaya College (Indonesia): held January 22 (Sat.), 2022<br \/>\r\nMahidol Wittayanusorn School (Thailand): held February 14 (Mon.), 2022<br \/>\r\nSuankularb Wittayalai School (Thailand): held February 28 (Mon.), 2022<br \/>\r\nLuong The Vinh Gifted High School (Vietnam): held March 12 (Sat.), 2022<br \/><br \/>\r\n \r\nIn addition to the above, FGL actively holds online promotions in cooperation with the Global Network Project in this season.<br \/>\r\nOn February 7th and 8th, FGL participated in the 2nd Online Study in Japan Fair as part of the Global Network Project for South America hosted by the University of Tsukuba. At this event, we introduced just the IMAC-U FGL course, but the local students showed keen interest, with a total of 328 attendees over the two days.<br \/><br \/>\r\nOn March 4th and 5th, we also participated in the Study in Japan Online University Fair 2022 which is a part of the \"Virtual Tour for Prospective International Students from Diverse Cultures and Languages Project\u201d.
