Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation.<\/p>\r\n

We recommend staying near Tohoku University Kawauchi Campus or within Sendai city.<\/p>\r\n

If needed, the Tohoku University International Support Center can assist you.<\/p>\r\n

If you are from a country or region that requires a visa to enter Japan, please let us know.<\/p>\r\n

Tohoku University will provide the necessary documents for your visa application.<\/p>\r\n

Please note that you are responsible for applying for the visa yourself at the nearest Japanese embassy or consulate.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/details>\r\n

No, The JLPT is not accepted.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/details>\r\n

\r\nQ4. What English proficiency tests are accepted?<\/strong><\/summary>\r\n
\r\n

Any internationally recognized English proficiency test, such as TOEFL, TOEIC, or IELTS, is acceptable.<\/p>\r\n

English Requirement for Exchange Program<\/a><\/p>\r\n

*For risk-management purposes, TUJP requires that students submit documentation proving that they have at minimum sufficient English proficiency to understand information\/directions in English.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/details>\r\n

\r\nQ5. I don't have an English proficiency certificate. What should I do?<\/strong><\/summary>\r\n

If you are enrolled in a course in which classes are generally taught in English, you can submit a CERTIFICATE issued by your home university verifying your enrollment instead of a language certificate.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/details>\r\n

We may accept applications from non-partner universities in the future, but unfortunately not at this time.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/details>\r\n

\r\nQ7. Can students who have never studied Japanese participate in the program?<\/strong><\/summary>\r\n
\r\n

Yes. Students of all Japanese proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced, including those who have never studied Japanese, can participate.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/details>\r\n

Cancellation of Program\/Refunds<\/h2>\r\n

\r\nQ8. If I pay the program fee but need to cancel, can I get a refund or transfer the fee to the next program?<\/strong><\/summary>\r\n
\r\n

Fees are non-refundable and cannot be applied to future programs if you cancel.<\/p>\r\n

If the program is canceled by us, you will receive a full refund, minus any handling fees.<\/p>\r\n

For refunds on individual arrangements (e.g., accommodation, travel), please check the policies of the respective providers.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/details>\r\n

Insurance<\/h2>\r\n

\r\nQ9. Do TUJP participants need to have insurance? Do they need to arrange it themselves?<\/strong><\/summary>\r\n
\r\n

All TUJP participants will be automatically enrolled in Gakkensai and Inbound Insurance. The cost is included in the program fee, and Tohoku University will take care of the enrollment process.<\/p>\r\n

Please note: This insurance does not cover medical expenses. Therefore, all participants are required to purchase their own overseas travel insurance to cover medical treatment and emergencies during their stay in Japan.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/details>\r\n

Classes<\/h2>\r\n

\r\nQ10. What happens if I am absent from class?<\/strong><\/summary>\r\n
\r\n

Attendance is important. Our program places great importance on interaction among participants. Therefore, discussions and group activities are a key part of the classes. We kindly ask that you avoid being absent whenever possible.<\/p>\r\n

If you must miss a class, please make sure to notify the instructor in advance.<\/p>\r\n

Please note that follow-up support for absences is generally not provided, and each instructor may handle absences differently depending on the course.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/details>\r\n

Grades<\/h2>\r\n

\r\nQ11. What are the grading criteria?<\/strong><\/summary>\r\n

In previous programs, grades were typically based on the Japanese language classes (70%) and the Japanese culture\/society lectures and international collaborative classes (30%). While grading criteria may vary slightly depending on the specific program, the evaluation mainly focuses on your participation and effort in assignments. Detailed grading criteria will be provided to participants upon acceptance.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/details>\r\n

Participants are usually selected about two months before the program starts. Once the details of the program are finalized, selected applicants will receive an official acceptance letter and payment instructions by email.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/details>\r\n

Open Badge is an international technical standard for digital certificates with a strong security system to prevent forgery and tampering. The \u201cmetadata\u201d embedded in the image allows you to easily share, transmit, and publish the qualifications and learning achievements you hold online. It can be attached to email signatures, letters of introduction, resumes, and placed on various platforms such as social media and websites.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/details>\r\n
