They teach them things not covered in Japanese classes such as slang and natural spoken language. They adjust the difficulty level to suit the students. Since this event is conducted in Japanese, non-English speakers can enjoy it too!

Tutor Activities

Tutoring provides a buddy system in which IPLANET members (domestic students) work one-on-one with IPLA students (international students). Specifically, IPLANET members help international students learn about Japanese language and culture, and help them adjust to life in Japan. The appeal of being a tutor is that you can develop deep friendships that will last long after you return to your home country through intensive international exchange.

Global Café

At this event, IPLA students teach the participants about their native languages and cultures. It is held once a week. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Participants have the rare chance to spend quality time with international students. The lessons teach language basics with consideration to the participants' preferences and level, and provide opportunities to practice conversation. Besides language, participants will learn about each country's culture and characteristics from the perspective of someone who actually lives there. Please come to Global Cafés for any countries that interest you.

Monthly Event

Events are held every month for the purpose of exchange between Tohoku University students and IPLA students.
Through activities such as barbecues and parties we try to plan events that anyone can enjoy regardless of nationality or culture. The events are conducted in both English and Japanese, so non-Japanese speakers can participate easily.

IPLANET is a student organization that supports international students participating in the IPLA　 (Internation […]
