• Tohoku University International House was opened in November, 1983 (the facility was expanded in 1989 and 1994) as a dormitory for foreign students and foreign researchers who engage in education and research, for the purpose of promoting international exchange in education and research.
• University House Sanjo was opened in April, 2007 as a dormitory for students under four basic concepts; fostering of human resources that can take the initiative in internationalization, forming each living unit organized by eight students, offering secure and comfortable living environments, and allowing for short-term usage during summer holiday season.
• Please submit the application form through your department office. You can find details of the submission process in “About International House” and “Application procedure”.
• Tohoku University International House and University House Sanjo will accept the application from foreign students twice a year (for moving in April and October). (Any time for foreign researcher applicants.)
• Japanese applicants may contact to Student Service Division, Support for Education and Student Department. (TEL:022-795-3944)

9 Events

At Tohoku University International House, TUFSA (Tohoku University Foreign Student Association) hosts “International Festival" every October. A lot of food stands will offer you a variey of dishes from many countries.
You will also enjoy cultural perfomances held at the stage. Every year, the festival is crowded with many many participants including neighbors. In addition,there is the Japanese Class, the introduction of Japanese cultures, and the bazaar for international students held by volunteer group.

Tohoku University International House plays an important role for international exchange of Tohoku University.
